Blog Post #1- Final Project Idea

   Hello! My name is Kage and I will be working on the film opening task for AICE Media Studies. My goal is to create the opening to a film which highlights struggle, and overcoming adversity through being able to use what is given to you.     How did I come up for this idea? First, I took a step back and considered myself. How can I relate to the product I am creating? This would help me gain inspiration, as being able to relate would help me use more emotion and passion in creating the project. Secondly and more importantly, what would the project be about? Settings to Consider - #4

   When creating a film, it is always important to identify the setting, or multiple settings. This is because it will help to match the event to when and where it is taking place. Since my film will be about a teenager who learns how to box, there should definitely be a boxing gym used at some point in the film. The location should also be clean and organized as well.     It should also include an exterior setting, which may showcase how the characters interact with each other more openly, and at certain times of the day. A great exterior setting to use would be around the neighborhood, because it is an easy place to go out and film at and there is a lot of space for different types of camera shots. There may be some parts of the film that need to be filmed at night, or during the day, and this can be greatly demonstrated using the natural lighting of the sun.   The location of the final battle should be noted as it may be included in the opening. Character Types - #12

   Who doesn't love a good, humble winner? Sports drama films are likely to include a protagonist who has gone through hardships in their life and eventually overcomes a great challenge. However, there is more than just the protagonist to consider.   For example, what or who poses a challenge to the protagonist? By first identifying this, it will be easier to create a plot to follow along. The 3 most common conflicts are man vs man, man vs nature, and man vs technology. I have decided to use the man vs man conflict, as I believe it will fit the plot I am looking to create.   What types of antagonists are there? There are 4 main types such as villains, conflict-creators, inanimate forces, and the protagonists themselves. The antagonist type that will be included is the villain.
