Genre Conventions - #3

The sports genre may not seem super complex, however, it does have many conventions. In order to understand what make up these types of films, we must ask ourselves what are genre conventions? These are elements, themes, topics, situations, and plots that are common in a certain genre. Sports films are most likely to consist of a tragic background that introduced how the character was brought to be in the situation they're in, an athletic contest that define the central characters, and a resolution in which the two rivals resolve in the end. The specific types of these films are the biopic, the sports history film, the documentary, and the typical boxing film.   Drama also comes with its typical conventions, like slow motion, monologue, adding narration, and also exhibits realistic characters and plots. Settings to Consider - #4

There may be some parts of the film that need to be filmed at night, or during the day, and this can be greatly demonstrated using the natural lighting of the sun.   The location of the final battle should be noted as it may be included in the opening. This is becau...

Famous scenes enhanced by music - #8

Music is a great way to use sound to appeal to the audience. Film directors use it to enhance the mood. One example used in the horror genre is Insidious. The music is very important to determine how the audience should feel during a scene, which is because it is the second most important sense to humans. The example shown below is meant to drive fear into the heart of the audience, as an eerily high-pitched violin is heard screeching a tune repetitively, and all sound comes to a sudden stop, which then blasts scary music and leads into the introductory title of the film.   Another good example is the music used in Jurassic Park. This scene highlights Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler's first sighting of a dinosaur. Since the objective of the scene was to showcase the magnitude of such an amazing sighting, the sound motif signifies something that is grand and becomes very familiar in the franchise                       ...
